In a review article titled Protective alleles and modifier variants in human health and disease, Dr. Eric Topol, Director of the Scripps Translational Science Institute, discusses the impact of identifying genetic factors that protect individuals against disease, and the great potential this line of enquiry represents for the development of therapeutic agents.
The article, written in collaboration with Dr. Andrew Harper from the University of Oxford, and Shalini Nayee from the NHS Foundation Trust, was published online on October 27, 2015 in Nature Reviews.
