Welcome to STSI
The Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI), in conjunction with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Translational Science Award (CTSA) Consortium is transforming how clinical and translational research is conducted, ultimately enabling researchers to provide new treatments more efficiently and quickly to patients.
The STSI endeavors to:
- Encourage the development of new methods and approaches to clinical and translational research
- Improve training and mentoring to ensure that new investigators can navigate the increasingly complex research system
- Design new and improved clinical research informatics tools
- Assemble interdisciplinary teams that cover the complete spectrum of medical research
- Forge new partnerships with private and public health care organization
Pilot/Methodological Study Award News
The STSI received 72 proposals in the first round of pilot/methodological study submissions. Clearly, this process was highly competitive. By using a rigorous review process, we were able to fund 7 of the 72 proposals. The projects which captured the mission of STSI, integrating basic and clinical science to have a likely important impact on the future of medicine, received the highest priority.
Congratulations to the following funded applicants: Colin Barker, Brunhilde Felding-Habermann, Anne Hanneken, Kelly Frazer/Ardem Patapoutian/Christy Jackson, Edward Huynh, Donald Mosier and James Paulson.
We will be accepting applications every 3 months for the duration of the CTSA grant, with receipt dates of November 14th 2008, February 13th, 2009 and May 8th, 2009, etc.
